The spider and the butterfly…

He wove her into his deceptive web all along knowing that his lies and deceit would eventually suck all of the life out of her.  She was like an innocent butterfly fluttering in her own world when all of a sudden she saw a beautiful glittering light…it was the reflection off of one of the strings in his web.  The light attracted her and as she flew closer in she was held captive.  He suddenly wove her into his web….she grew weak.  She lost all consciousness and could not think clearly.  He told her lies and made her believe that he was all she needed.  She knew he was wrong.  She knew this wasn’t it.  She became strong in her faith and as she became strong, he became weak.  Finally one day came when her wings were strong again and she could fly once again.  So she left.  Never to return.  She often gets glimpses of that glittering light and wants to go close to the web again, but she knows she will not survive being captive again.  So she flys off and she flutters in the sun until she can find someone with wings as beautiful as hers to flutter with.

  1. I have to tell you, that for the past 6 months I have been thinking about writing a story of The Spider and the Butterfly, inspired by an experience that I had in July 2008. I just came across this and I got chills reading it since it perfectly describes what I was feeling. I guess it is common to think of a man as a deceiving spider and a kind and gentle woman as a beautiful butterfly that could be trapped in his web of lies. I love how you ended this and it’s reassuring to know that there is a happy ending. For I am still in the stage of wanting to get close to the web knowing that it is no good for me and I’m am trying to funnel my energy on other things.
